The American Arab Chamber of Commerce has owed a great deal to the contributions and efforts of its board of directors. We look forward to continuing this great tradition as we welcome Dr. William Restum to the Board of Directors. The entire organization proudly welcomes Dr. Restum and looking forward to building bridges with his expertise and leadership.
William H. Restum, PhD, was named President of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) and Senior VP, Detroit Medical Center (DMC) in 2008, and brings over 35 years of experience in the field of rehabilitation medicine to this role. Dr. Restum's career has been focused on administration, strategic planning, and
organizational development. He provides leadership and oversight for RIM's 94-bed inpatient hospital and over 30 outpatient therapy sites.
Dr. Restum has a doctorate in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Wayne State University, and obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Michigan University. He began his career at the DMC in 1978 as a speech-language pathologist. Since then he has gone on to hold several key leadership positions at the DMC including, Vice-President, Clinical Programs, Sinai Hospital; Vice-President Clinical & Ambulatory Services, Northwest Region, Detroit Medical Center; and Director for Strategic Initiatives, RIM.
In addition, Dr. Restum served as President and CEO, Great Lakes Rehab Hospital in Southfield, MI, and Chief Executive Officer, Health Care Partners, Inc.
Among his many awards and honors, Dr. Restum received the George A. Kopp Outstanding Alumnus Award from Wayne State University in 1988. He is a graduate of Leadership Detroit XVII and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also serves on the board of Zaman International and the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association.
